Cooling sized properly for your home

The single most common problem we see with air conditioning is a unit that was never sized correctly for the house. Oversized systems cool fast, shut off, and never run long enough to pull humidity out — so the house feels clammy and the compressor wears out early. Undersized ones simply never catch up on a hot day.

We size the system to the actual building rather than to a rule of thumb, and we'll walk you through the options: conventional central air, or a heat pump that cools in summer and handles a good share of the heating in the shoulder seasons.

Heat pumps are worth a proper conversation in Calgary. They pair well with an existing gas furnace in a dual-fuel setup, which lets the heat pump handle mild weather and the furnace take over when it gets genuinely cold.

What we handle

  • Central air conditioning installation
  • Air conditioner repair, all makes
  • Heat pump supply, installation and service
  • Dual-fuel heat pump and furnace systems
  • Annual AC servicing and pre-summer checks
  • Refrigerant leak detection and recharge
  • Ductless mini-split systems
  • Condenser and coil cleaning
  • Thermostat and zoning controls

How it works

Our process

  1. Assess the home

We size to the actual building, not a rough rule of thumb.

  2. Present options

Central air or heat pump, with running costs for each.

  3. Install properly

Correct line sets, drainage, and a full commissioning charge.

  4. Service annually

A pre-summer check keeps efficiency up and parts lasting.

Questions

Common questions

When should I book AC service in Calgary?
Spring, before the first hot stretch. Booking early means you're not waiting during the rush that follows the first genuinely hot week.
Is a heat pump worth it in Calgary?
For many homes, yes, particularly in a dual-fuel setup with an existing gas furnace. The heat pump handles cooling and mild-weather heating, and the furnace takes over in deep cold. Whether it pays off depends on your home and energy rates, so it's worth a conversation.
How long does an air conditioner last?
Typically 12 to 15 years with annual maintenance. Poor sizing and skipped servicing shorten that considerably.
Can I add air conditioning to my existing furnace?
Usually yes. If you have forced-air ducting and a reasonably modern furnace, adding central air or a heat pump to the existing system is generally straightforward. We'll check your ductwork and electrical capacity first.
Why is my AC running but not cooling?
Common causes include low refrigerant from a leak, a dirty or iced-over coil, a failing compressor or a blocked filter. Change the filter first; if that doesn't fix it, book a diagnostic rather than leaving it running.
